Improving Environmental and Smallholder Plantation Governance through Land Mapping and STDB Registration Support in East Aceh and Aceh Tamiang Regencies
In an effort to improve environmental and smallholder plantation governance in East Aceh and Aceh Tamiang Regencies, Yayasan Geutanyoe—with support from USAID SEGAR-Bappenas—is providing assistance to smallholders through land mapping activities and the registration of the Cultivation Registration Certificate (STDB) for community-owned oil palm plantations.
This program aims to safeguard ecosystem sustainability while enhancing the legality and sustainability of community oil palm plantation businesses. Through STDB registration, smallholders can manage their plantations more effectively and sustainably, in compliance with applicable regulations. Thus, the program supports a balance between economic development and environmental conservation.

Implementation of Support, Assessment, and Analysis of the Economic Potential of Coastal Communities in East Aceh and North Aceh Regencies
To support coastal communities, the Geutanyoe Foundation is conducting participatory mapping and stakeholder meetings to develop mangrove area zoning. Additionally, the foundation is carrying out assessments and feasibility studies for sustainable livelihoods, including an evaluation of the market potential for proposed business ventures. This process entails a rapid assessment of the most promising mangrove-based products, a description and basic cost breakdown for each proposed product (covering production, transportation, and marketing), as well as the identification of sales options and tentative estimates of volume and pricing.
Geutanyoe also supports traditional coastal fishers—specifically those within the Panglima Laot Lhok jurisdiction—in improving the quality and freshness of their catch to secure higher market prices. Furthermore, the foundation conducts studies to foster effective, community-based sustainable livelihood and business development within fishing communities; the resulting assessments will enable the team to develop program proposals that integrate these sustainable, community-based business and livelihood initiatives.
